Steve’s Weekend Roundup

Here’s all you need to know about what happened this week in booze, and what’s happening this weekend.

Stuff We’re Excited About (aka What’s New At Steve’s Junction)

Corksicle Canteens – I discovered these while on vacation in Florida, and had to find a way to bring them in. They hold a full bottle of wine and can keep it cold for up to 25 hours. It’s a great way to be able to bring what you want to summer activities without the worry of bringing glass! It also keeps beverages hot for 12 hours, making it a perfect option for Glogg or spiked hot chocolate in the colder months. – Karen

Barr Hill Gin and Vodka – Every once in a while a brand rep comes in with a new product that absolutely blows me away. Using honey as a base for the vodka, and adding a small amount of honey to their gin creates texture, body, and character unlike any others in their respective categories. I know what I’ll be sipping on this weekend and I highly recommend that you do the same. Check out their site to learn more and scroll through the countless number of awards they’ve earned despite only being around a few years! – Kevin

Events

Meloz Tasting – Speaking of honey-based spirits, Dominic DeSano, founder/owner of Meloz Domel, will be here sampling some of his unique mead-based distillate this Friday, August 18th from 4-6pm. Made right here in Madison this is something that everyone needs to try. Stop in, say hi, and support a great local product!

Sunflower Days 2017 – Unrelated to our industry but something everyone should experience. It’s been going on all week but if you haven’t had a chance to pop over yet make sure you do in the next couple days. The never-ending field of sunflowers is absolutely stunning and makes for great photo ops! It’s right down the road so make sure to pop in and say hi after 😉 .
