Bordeaux and Belgians

Here’s all you need to know about what happened this week in booze, and what’s happening this weekend.

Stuff We’re Excited About (aka What’s New At Steve’s Junction)

Bordeaux Galore! – This week we received an expansive selection of 2014 Bordeaux – most of which haven’t been available in the market for 10+ years! The 2014 season had perfect growing conditions which led us to pre-buying these wines while they were still barrel aging anticipating the amazing vintage.  – Dominique

De Struise Rio Reserva 2016 – Having De Struise bottles in the store is always a treat, but having Rio Reserva elevates that sentiment even more. The 2016 vintage features a total of 4 years in barrels, splitting the time between Kentucky Bourbon and St. Emillon wine barrels. The result is worth the wait, giving a hefty Strong Ale nuance and balance unlike many other beers being made in Belgium. Molasses, pears, and fig are present in the first few sips, with a tannic grape note peering through near the finish.  One of the more unique (in a good way!) beers I’ve tried in a while. – Dan

Wine In A Can?! Tasting – One of our favorite wine revelations in the past year or so has been canned wine. And after getting the side-eye most of the time we attempted to share our enthusiasm, we figured it’s time to do something about that. Eric, the man with the cans, will be here to pour six very different wines available in the very portable, recyclable vessel of aluminum cans! Stop in from 4-6pm on Friday, August 25th and taste it to believe it!

Good Neighbor Festival – Middleton is set to outdo themselves once again proving that they are indeed, good neighbors! A carnival, music festival and craft fair all rolled into one, there is something for everyone at the annual summer wrap-up party. Running this Friday-Sunday at Firemen’s Park in Middleton, be sure to pop by!
