Like many people who got into craft beer in the late 2000s, Dogfish Head was my first brewery crush. With an outlandish owner and tradition being cast aside for weird experimental beers, it wasn’t a diffcult sell, not even a little bit. Fast forward to 2017, and Dogfish Head is still making weird beers (like a scrapple stout…look it up), and doing a darn fine job at it. Today we’re featuring a classic and some new favorites along with a tasting so you can try before you buy!
Punkin Ale – The victor of a lawsuit claiming it’s likeness was too close to “Pumpkin Ale,” this is one of Dogfish Head’s longest running seasonals. This Brown Ale adds pumpkin flesh as well as brown sugar to strike a balance between spice and squash.
Lupu Luau – If you guessed this was a coconut IPA with tropical fruit notes…how the heck did you guess that?! The latest in their stable of seasonals, this beer provides supreme drinkability while providing just enough weird to keep you on your toes.
Modern Chemistry – This IPA juggles mangoes, apricots and ginger amongst a balanced IPA. It’s fruity, it’s hoppy, it’s tasty!
Newly-minted Dogfish Head rep Jasmine will be here from 4-6 pouring samples and giving away free glassware with purchase! Stop in and say hi!
