Did we mention that it’s a great time of year to stock up on wine for the holidays? Especially when the wine is spectacular at an even more spectacular price?? This week’s feature is quite possibly one of the best Thirsty Thursday deals we’ve ever had!
Amarone wines are highly coveted due not only to their quality but due to the highly intensive process in making them. The grapes are harvested later than most and left to dry for months which leads to to an intense concentration. This process leads to much more fruit being needed per bottle but results in a wine that is literally packed full of flavor. The Zenato Alanera Rosso Veronese 2013 introduces a wine that blends 50% of it’s grapes through this method which makes it as luscious as its Amarone cousins, but at much more approachable price point.
Brilliant ruby in color, Alanera delights the senses with a variety of aromas and flavors that include fresh and dried cherries and prunes, sweet spice, and hints of coffee and tobacco. On the palate, Alanera is full-bodied with elegant and velvety tannins. Vibrant acidity brings balance and freshness, and supports a long and harmonious finish.
