For followers of our ‘Thirsty Thursday’ deals, this week’s offering may be a familiar producer. Coming from a family that fell into winemaking by purchasing a vacation home upon ideal grape-growing soils, they thought they’d plant a few vines and see what would become of them. A few years and a few extra vines later they were bottling some of Portugal’s most sought after wines. Now, twenty-some years later, they have perfected their craft and have the accolades to prove it. Voted as a “Best Buy” by Wine Enthusiast, the Mondeco Dao Vinho Tinto 2011is already a good purchase. When it’s our deal of the week?? It’s an amazing purchase!
Produced from hand-picked grapes, this is a soft blend of five local varieties. With notes of black cherry, raspberry liqueur, strawberry compote, cocoa, and leather, you’ll find complexity usually reserved for wines at a much higher price point. It maintains good acidity, round tannins, medium body and an elegant and long finish sure to please any palate!
